31.

It's FRIDAY! yes :) So excited....and I'm even more excited because... I lost exactly 1 lb yesterday so this morning I weighed in at 285.0!!!! WOOOOOOO I can't believe I did it. With the weight I've been losing the last couple of days I definitely did not think I would be able to lose that extra pound, but I did :) :) Thank you everyone for your encouragement. I did get on the elliptical this morning and I went for 18 min it was killer. I'm so happy it's over haha.

I also measured myself this morning and I lost 6.5 inches all over this past week! Woo hoo! This weekend will mark 2 months being on this diet, so when I weigh in on Monday we'll see how much I lost in that time! I'm super excited for how the Thyroid Diet has worked for me so far. And thank you to everyone who is reading this blog, and has given me so much encouragement so far! You are all wonderful and you keep me going! Have a great weekend! Until next time ;-)

  1. Good for you Molly!
Every once in a while, I go from a four week cycle to a three week cycle. Two weeks sounds awful! My Dr. says it's common for thyroid patients. (great...) I think you have the perfect eliptical plan. Keep it up. As for me, since you asked, I'm in Austin. Love all the rain we got this week, but now it's back to hot weather. Have a great weekend!

  2. Alicia -- At least your Dr says it's common with thyroid patients (I know it is) but my Drs nurse loves to say, "Umm..that's not a thyroid problem we can't help you" It's frustrating! Yay for being in Austin! I know I was LOVING the rain. If it was like that every day...I would be so happy. Who is your endo?

I can't wait to have my surgery (Mon) and recover so I can start this diet too. I'm looking forward to it. :)

  5. HI Molly,
I just stumbled upon your blog. Great stuff!! I wish you all the best in your struggle! I too weighted close to 300 lbs 10 years ago. I too am Hypothyroid (I have about 8% functionality - have been hypo since I was 15 years old). I am at 195 now and struggle (I mean struggle) to get the last 20 lbs off. I know that sounds silly - but I have been working on that 20l bs for 7 years. So, what I want to say - is do not give up! You are doing amazing things! And no matter how hard these things are - you will persevere!
    Good Luck!!!

Daisy -- Thank you so much! Awesome job for getting all that weight off! I know exactly what you mean with that last 20 the last part can always be killer! You will get there! Good luck and thank you!

Marlene -- Thank you so much! You are so sweet!

Mom -- :) You are so sweet I love you so much! I can't wait to see you next month, and thank you for being so supportive and always there for me. I love you Mom!

  8. GREAT job Molly! Katie, I, too, will be praying for you on Monday. I've never bonded with anyone over thyroid problems before but I like it. Thanks again, Molly, for your blog. Everyone have a good weekend. Sharon (in Georgia)

Molly, WOW that is great!! You are such an inspiration to us all. Molly I have a question for you. What do you think or know about having Whey Protein shakes and yogurt for breakfast (not at this same time)? My prayers are with everyone following this blog. And Molly you go girl!!!!!!!

  10. Sharon -- Thank you so much!!! I know it is SO nice to be able to talk with people who know exactly what I'm going through! Hope you're doing well!

Melissa -- Thank you!!!! Are you on the thyroid diet while doing this? Also the thing I have against Whey Protein shakes is they have a lot of soy in them. (in all the ones I checked out Soy is the second ingredient) And Thyroid patients aren't supposed to have soy, it works against our thyroids/medications. I haven't checked yogurts lately...but I think they're okay to have. Just make sure to check the ingredients...if there are a lot of ingredients and the very last (or second to last) is soy...I would still be okay eating it. But definitely stay away from things that have soy in the first three ingredients. Hope this helps! And thank you so much again :)

  13. I just came across your blog and your story sounds so similar to mine! I still have my thyroid, but have struggled for over 10 years to achieve "normal" numbers. I wondered if you take synthroid or if you take Armour? I was able to finally see some normal ranges when switched to armour......

  14. Diane -- Thank you so much! As long as you're on the right path then that's great! And yes! Definitely weigh yourself after you pee in the morning! That's always the best time! And if you are constipated that can definitely add some weight! So try not to worry when that is going on. I don't have any really good or favorite recipes...but the one you said sounds so good! Good luck!!!

M.Pearl -- Hello I'm so glad you're reading my blog! I actually haven't tried armour yet but I have heard from quite a few people on here that it has helped them so much! I am actually going to ask my Dr about it when I see her again in a month. I'm glad you saw some change with it! Best of luck!

  15. Way to go Molly! Just curious, if you are not supposed to have soy, I am on HRT and take estrogen...is that working against me?

  16. Congrats! All your hard work is paying off. You give me hope, that someday, I might be able to lose this spare body I'm carrying around with me.

Question - how does one learn to like exercise? I detest it. And I figured out why - I hate being wet and sweaty. HATE it. I don't swim either (that wet thing). I'm just not sure how to get over it.

Thanks for being such an inspiration to all of us. :-)

  17. Food -- I actually just found an article by Mary Shomon yesterday about Estrogen and Thyroid. There is so much in there that is interesting to know if you're taking estrogen that my comment would basically be the whole article, but here it is http://thyroid.about.com/cs/shames/a/shameshormones.htm read it, it will seriously shed so much light on the subject! Best of luck!

Kat -- Thank you so much :) OH man I'm not sure how to get over exercising especially if you don't like being wet. But also my mom has worked out every day for like 15 years, and she still doesn't like it. It's the feeling once it's done that is awesome. The whole time you're thinking OH my goodness I can't do this, and when it's done your whole body feels incredible. But if you don't like sweating, maybe try just walking? And if you have a treadmill make your house extremely cold while you're working out to keep you from sweating as much. And walking is amazing for workouts. Start with just half a mile or a mile, and see how it goes for you! Best of luck with everything Kat, and I promise you...if I can get rid of my old self...you definitely can too!
