50.

HAPPY WEDNESDAY! Half way through the week yay :) It has been storming here in Texas, and right now it is POURING! I love it, this is my favorite weather, I can never be in a bad mood when it's raining! Oh my goodness I can't even believe I am on post 50. How insane is that?! Well thank you everyone for being there with me through it all! Okay I have lost .8 pounds since Monday and I am currently at 279.2, so at least I'm losing the only bummer is I was hoping to get to 276 this week and that is most definitely not happening! Okay I'm still on my diet and everything and I'm still wanting/needing to lose some major weight...but you know right before you start a diet and you get so much enthusiasm for it and for losing weight and you think, "Nothing can stop me!"?? Well I definitely had that the first two and a half months and I feel like I've lost that this last month. I am not giving up! PLEASE PLEASE realize I am NOT giving up. I have a life I need to take back, but I need to somehow find that drive again. I think that's why I've been messing up so much during these past few weekends. It's that stupid plateau everyone hits at least once during a big weight loss, I'm sure everyone's felt this before....right?? So what is it you guys do to re-motivate yourself? How do you just run and jump off that plateau? I just realized today that this is what has been going on, so I'm sure I won't have the answer by this evening, haha but I am definitely going to spend some time with the lights, computer, iPhone off. It's raining so it's perfect. I just want to sit in the dark hearing nothing but the rain and I want to think about what I want to do, and how I'm going to get there. I am still going to be doing the Thyroid Diet, and I'm going to continue to do the TTapp More DVD, just going to get my head and heart back in the game. If anyone has any suggestions PLEASE let me know! Encouragement is always very helpful too. You guys are all so amazing :) Have a great day! Until next time ;-)

  1. So, I totally understand about becoming frustrated because you can't lose weight and it gets easy just to eat because you get into the mode that is does not matter you are not going to lose it anyway. But if you maintain the weight that you lost then that’s one thing, but you don't want to be putting the weight back on. So just a few suggestions - now I am not an expert by any means I’m just going to suggest what I did and have been doing. If you keep a food journal take a look at it and see if anything stands out that may be holding you back. I know you have said you try to stick to the same foods all the time, maybe change it up a little bit. Also make sure you are eating enough through out the day so that your body does not go into starvation mode because if is does then you will not lose. Maybe you need to look at the type you chose for yourself in they thyroid diet to see if this one is the best for you. So those are my suggestions I hope you don't mind.

My biggest down fall is all the bad carbs. I just love them and it is hard to say away from them, but since I have been doing South Beach I have not been craving them so that is a good thing for me.

Well stay strong and enjoy the rain. It is a beautiful sunny day here in good old Connecticut. Heather

  2. Molly,
Maybe you should start back at 1. Maybe this would help you to image that you're just now starting this diet and that your current weight it your start weight. Just start over! It's not like you're going backwards. It might help you take control again.
    Good luck!!!

  3. Katie -- Thank you so much! I will definitely try that!

Heather -- I definitely don't mind and thank you so much! Those sound very smart and I appreciate it! It's not that I'm feeling deprived of anything, and I don't think that I'm not going to lose. It's just that at the beginning, even on my treats for the week, they were still not bad and very very minimal because I was so focused and motivated. Now I'm not as focused so when the weekend comes it's like I forget that I'm only going to do one treat and before I know it I've done 3 you know? I just need to get focused again. Put on my war paint, do my best grr face and charge forward haha!

  4. You know, I am at the same place you are. Over the past year, I lost 20 pounds, gained back 10, then lost the 10. I cannot get past the number on the scale! Maintaining the motivation is SO hard! One thing that has helped me is really mixing up what I do for exercise. I walk (with Nike+iPod, which rocks!), ride a stationary bike (while I watch The Biggest Loser), do the Wii Active Personal Trainer program, and several DVDs - many of The Biggest Loser ones, and two of Jillian Michaels. I think my favorite is Biggest Loser Cardio Max. The Last Chance Workout is good too. And they always show you how to build and adapt the workouts. Also, we just started a Family Membership at our local YMCA. Having a lot of workout options really helps!!! I never get bored. Now if I can just stay away from Del Taco..... ;->

  5. Molly!
I am sorry that you are feeling a little frustrated about having hit a plateau. The first thing is to realize that everyone has gone/will go through one of those at some point and that you are def. not alone. In my experience, even though plateaus stink once you break them the weight comes off really fast. So, that right there could be motivation 1. I always try to find strength on my weakness. I visualize the plateau as this bar that I need to keep pushing until it breaks in half.
Lately, as I told you before, I find motivation in the challenge itself. If something is really hard it wakes up all my stubbornness and I try even harder. Also, what helps me is to set deadlines and mini goals...mini.
Hmm...also, instead of treating myself with yummy foods I treat myself with a nice lotion, gloss, shoes, etc. And finally, whenever I hit a bad plateau I just cut all extras (carbs, sugar-free treats, etc) for a week or two and increase my workouts just to push my metabolism to the next level.
I hope it helps. I am sure you will get the ball back in your court in no time! I'll be praying for you :)
    Hugs!

  6. Susie -- Thank you so much for the suggestions! Before I started this Thyroid Diet, no matter what diet I did I could never lose more than 20 pounds and it was so frustrating! but yea I definitely hate plateaus they are the worst. Thanks again!

Lucia -- Yea I'm really looking forward to once I break past this plateau! I'm hoping it'll just fly off! OOO I like the bar visualization!!! I'm definitely going to use that! Thanks so much Lucia! I am definitely going to crunch down and I can't wait to blow past this! Hugs!

  7. Hey sis,
I really agreed with somebody's comment about changing up what you are eating on a daily basis. I know that you have said that it is helpful to you to eat the same things because you know amounts, etc, but I think you are getting bored with that. Mix it up and see if trying other foods/ snacks helps with some cravings. Cravings always make things harder to stay motivated.
Don't be discouraged, though! You are doing great!! Hang in there and keep going!!
    Love,
    Kate

  8. Hi Molly,
I wanted to let you know that you have been an inspriration to me as I try, yet again, to get my weight down and my eating under control. I am Hypo but don't seem to have swings in my levels. I found out when I was about 28 and now I'm 42. I've more recently been trying to find something to support my feelings about something else going on other than lack of willpower in dieting. I had my doctor test my T4/T3 and the results were within range. I found your blog while reading Mary's site and have been following you for a while. I bought the Thyroid Diet book and started down the path of following the carb sensitive plan and have morphed a bit more toward just a low GI diet. Carbs are my downfall and it has been amazing to see and feel the change since I've switched to lower GI foods and fewer carbs. I don't have any super awesome suggestions for getting past your plateau but I thought that if I told you what reading your blog has done for me it might help a little :) Earlier this year I was at about 225 lbs and sort of "dieted" my way down to 221. Since starting the low GI way of eating the pounds have been dropping, much to my delight. I can officially say that as of today, I dropped to 209 which put my BMI rating at "overweight" down from "obese" which is quite an amazing feeling and I attribute some of that to you! I hope it helps just a little bit to hear that from a follower of your story :)

    Keep up the good work!
    Brenda

Brenda -- Oh my goodness. Thank you so much for that. You don't know how much that meant to me. 209 that's incredible! Good job and I'm so proud of you! You have every right to feel amazing now, but know that you are amazing ALWAYS! Again thank you! Your comment has definitely helped me!
